‘Incredibles 2’ Breaks Thursday Preview Night Box Office Record For An Animated Feature With $18.5 Million

By now you are used to reading Walt Disney Co. owned properties breaking records in the box office and today is no different.  Incredibles 2 officially opens in theaters today but Thursday’s preview night gave us a new record.

Incredibles 2 took in $18.5 million in box office sales yesterday breaking the previously held record for an animated feature.  In fact, it beat Finding Dory by almost double.  Finding Dory took in $9.2 million on their Thursday preview which previously held that title.  Does this mean that the newest Disney • Pixar animated film is going to break all sorts of records?  Time will only tell but with all the marketing and positive hype behind the Parr family’s newest adventure, I wouldn’t bet against it.  We will get an even better idea after opening weekend.  To keep the Finding Dory comparison going, they took in $135 million their opening weekend in June of 2016.
