Epcot’s Norway Pavilion Making Changes

The Stave Church in the Norway Pavilion is getting a new exhibit.  Are we seeing a shift back to “real” Norway?  Has the plethora of Frozen goodness started to wear out its welcome?  Maybe.

On March 12th the Stave Church closed for an exhibit change.  Since the current gallery opened in fall of 2013, the “Norsk Kultur: Inspiration for Disney ‘Frozen'” exhibit showcased a collection of artifacts and objects that inspired Disney’s 2013 animated film “Frozen”.  The exhibit was definitely interesting and did bridge the gap between the “real” Norway and the “animated” Norway we know from the film.  It was a really unique look at what inspired the creators and how they used this knowledge to create the costumes and the overall world of “Frozen”.

Coming this spring the Stave Church will re-open with a brand new exhibit titled “Gods of the Vikings”.  The new gallery will feature the gods Odin, Freyja. Thor and Loki (not the comic book versions) and the stories behind these Viking gods.  The displays will feature authentic artifacts and other time period elements to tell the story.
