Disney’s Hollywood Studios was the home to the very popular Star Wars Weekends from 1997 to 2015 (except 1998, 1999 and 2002) and when it was announced that it was going away it left Star Wars fans with a void to fill.  Yes, we all know that in 2019 we will all get to experience the highly anticipated Star Wars Land and in the mean time we have Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Tours-The Adventure Continues and the many Star Wars daily shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  There is still just something about those Star Wars Weekends that I miss.

This year Disney announced a one day hard ticket (you must pay to attend) event that seems to be an attempt to bring some of the Star Wars Weekends events back to the park.  Star Wars: Galactic Nights will be on April 14, 2017 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and some of the highlights of this nighttime event include:  (from the Disney Parks Blog)

Rebel Base Activities – The Rebel Base will serve as the event hub with multiple events, hosted shows, Star Wars dance parties and more taking place in the center of the park.
Can’t miss Star Wars photo ops – Don your Star Wars finest (see costume guidelines here) and enjoy iconic Star Wars backdrops, including the debut appearance of BB-8, Han Solo cast in carbonite, Jabba the Hutt’s Palace, the Hoth Wampa Cave and more.
Galactic Nights Stars in Cars Motorcade – This procession will welcome in Star Wars celebrities down Hollywood Blvd.
Imperial March & March of the First Order – Get your cameras ready for the arrival of the dark side. Darth Vader will lead a battalion of stormtroopers on a dramatic march down Hollywood Blvd to the Event Stage. Captain Phasma will also lead a unit of First Order stormtroopers through the park, pausing to give a demonstration of power and strength.
“Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” – Watch high-energy clips of the best moments from the film saga juxtaposed with character moments on stage, featuring Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Kylo Ren and more.
“Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular” – The skies will come alive with the power of the Force, as the park’s popular Star Wars-themed nighttime spectacular lights up the night.
Show Your Star Wars Spirit – Come dressed as your favorite character and celebrate 40 years of Star Wars milestones.

Other fun activities includes the Seize the Saga Interactive Scavenger Hunt where guests will visit iconic scenes from the films in search of themed pieces that represent each of the movies.  When you find all eight pieces you will be able to put them together to form a take-home keepsake.

If you are a Star Wars Rebels fan you will be happy to see that Vanessa Marshall, the voice of Hera Syndulla, will serve as the host of “Inside the Saga: Celebrity Chat Show”. “Inside the Saga: Celebrity Chat Show” will take you behind the scenes of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and will include a pre-show hosted by Andi Gutierrez and Anthony Carboni of Star Wars Show fame.

This event will also be the first time guests will be able to meet and greet with BB-8.  If you attend Star Wars: Galactic Nights you will be the first to get up and close with the famous droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens before the rest of the public can.  AWR Troopers and surprise Droids will also be roaming around during the event.

A Star Wars event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios would not be complete without the ability to experience Star Tours-The Adventure Continues, eat and drink specialty treats and special event merchandise.

Tickets for Star Wars: Galactic Nights cost $129 plus tax for adults and $124 plus tax for children ages 9 and under and can be purchased by calling 407-827-7036 for more information or to book now.  These tickets will be very limited so call today if you are thinking of attending.
