Disney’s Contemporary Resort




California Grill is located on the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort but is only accessible from the 2nd floor check in desk.  Guest check in at the podium located on the 2nd floor and are escorted up to the 15th floor by a cast member.  California Grill is one of Walt Disney World Resort’s most popular restaurant for many reasons including the amazing views of the Magic Kingdom, Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake as well as the very tasty cuisine.  As you get off of the elevator you will notice you are surrounded by climate-controlled wine coolers filled with over 1,600 different bottles.  As you enter the main dining room the large open-air kitchen and bar is to your left and the tall windows overlooking Magic Kingdom and Seven Seas Lagoon are directly in front of you.  The elegant design of the dining room gives off a very comforting and cozy feel.  California Grill features a gourmet menu that can change with the seasons.  Some of the favorites include the oak-grilled filet of beef and Sonoma goat cheese ravioli as well as an amazing selection of fresh Sushi.  This signature table service restaurant also offers and amazing wine list as well as desert experiences.  Reservations well in advance are highly recommended but California Grill does offer a bar for walk up seating, if available.  

Since the California Grill is on the top of the Contemporary Resort it offers some of the most unique viewing areas for the Magic Kingdom fireworks.  The soundtrack to the fireworks is piped into the restaurant as well as the outdoor viewing areas so guests can enjoy Wishes (as well as other shows) from the most unique vantage point in Walt Disney World.  Even if you have already dined earlier in the evening you can come back and watch the show, just bring your receipt to get back in.
